The West Coast Boatyard Association has put together a 5-day inflatable repair course led by the professionals at Zodiac MilPro in Delta, BC this November. Space is limited and registration is only offered through WCBA. 

Registration is open to anyone; discounts for WCBA members.

This 5 day course is a complete look at the basic repair of inflatable boats.  Participants will be instructed in correct repair techniques on multiple fabrics, including:

• Patching and Repair of CSM/Neoprene Hypalon, Polyurethane and PVC fabrics
• Valve Replacement
• Bolt Rope Repair
• Baffle Seam Repair

Instruction is provided through the use of manuals and practical application.  Certificates will be provided to those participants who complete the training course.  10 students maximum. Registration is only available through the WCBA web site.

non-members: $1700

The Erie Canal – An Extraordinary Waterway

As I shift our chartered canal boat into neutral, I’m soothed by the soundtrack of bird calls, the occasional plaintive horn of a distant train and the hum of our engine.

I reach for the VHF to radio the lockmaster in charge of Erie Canal’s Lock 32 dead ahead. Our boat spins gently in the current like a maple key in a mud puddle.

“This is Onondaga,” I say. “Headed westbound and requesting passage.”
