Finally

Yes, friends and boating neighbours, it’s Launch Day.  It should be a national holiday and I am hoping you will treat it as one.  Launch Day literally means the day you launch the boat but, in this context, it means more.  The boats may already be in the water. A friend tells me they launched two weeks ago and it snowed the next day.

Are Barnacles and Zebra Mussels Related.

It all starts out so simply – I was researching an article on bottom paints and since these two pests are problems in different parts of the country the question entered my mind. Among the many gaps in my resume, I have no depth in marine biology, so I decided to look it up.

Looking Good

Just got back from the Toronto International Boat Show and I was pleasantly surprised in several ways. First, the boats appeared somehow fresh. An impressive batch of new models and certainly a lot of new colours. Aqua hulls, mulberry with matching colour Mercs on the stern. I think it’s not unkind to say boats have been looking much the same, year after year but this year they looked refreshed and energetic.

The sheer size of the show is almost overwhelming with16 huge halls, several filled with every size of power and sail boats and the rest filled with gear, charter destinations, marine art, water toys, scuba etc etc and more etc, a lot of which doesn’t always make it to our shores.
