Kropf Industrial First All-Electric Travel Lift

Nov 21, 2024

Parry Sound, On-based Kropf Industrial, manufacturer of the industry-leading Conolift line of boat handling equipment and dock equipment you’ve seen everywhere, has placed its first all-electric travel lift is in service at Port Credit Yacht Club in the GTA. The advanced design has eliminated both the diesel power unit and the hydraulic system, yielding a simplified machine that is quiet, and free from emissions and the risk of spills.

A first for North America, this all-electric lift with a capacity of 40 tons has already been through a rigorous testing program at Kropf’s facility. It is now being utilized by a Toronto-area marine facility for their haul-out and launch operations, providing opportunities for final refinements and demonstrating the performance of the unit in a range of conditions. To date, the lift has exceeded expectations for ease of use, reliability, battery life and low charging times.

The all-electric design of this lift has completely eliminated both the internal-combustion engine and the hydraulic system, which eliminates both exhaust emissions and the need for fluids and oils. Reliable, proven technologies were utilized throughout the design, ensuring safe, long-term operations and ease of maintenance and service. The low-voltage battery packs are safe, proven and easy to maintain.

The lift is a fully-featured machine with all of the options available on a diesel-powered unit, including proportional controls, two-speed winches, sling positioners and fully radio-remote operation. Diagnostics, machine status updates and service are simplified through use of a large external touchscreen, and the machine can be remotely diagnosed and serviced through connection to a Wi-Fi network.

The Best of Two Worlds

By Mathew Channer

Interior British Columbia might not be as famous for recreational boating as Canada’s Great Lakes, yet it is no less a world-class boating destination. The mountains offer their own flavour of marine adventure with their series of long, deep ribbon lakes, and there is perhaps no area that embodies this more uniquely than the iconic Okanagan basin in southern B.C. One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
