Watertight Utility Deck and Dock Boxes from Frigibar

Frigibar

Whether used onboard or dockside, storage boxes need to stand up to a lot of use and abuse. U-Series Salty Dog watertight utility deck and dock boxes from Frigibar marry superior quality with exceptional good looks for years of dependable service.

The all-fiberglass U-Series boxes feature unique design details that differentiate them from mass-produced units. A recessed inner lip on the frame makes the box watertight and creates a seamless, flush fit between the top and base. The slight peak on the lid ensures water doesn't accumulate.

To eliminate protruding hardware, the hasp is mounted in a recessed area on the front of the box. This enables a padlock to hang flush without the risk of damage from a passing dock cart. It also creates an easy hand grip for opening the box.

Frigibar makes it easy for boat owners to create a custom look. Each U-Series box skirt can be scribed to match the deck contours for a perfectly level installation. Chrome/brass deck fasteners are optional.

Other quality features include a full length piano hinge for strength and durability, and support cords that prevent the lid from opening too far. Putting wet items in U-Series boxes is no problem, thanks to the internal drainage holes. Louvered air vents help prevent mildew formation.

U-Series dock box models measure 22" W x 19" H, in 41", 51", 61", 71" and 81" lengths. Frigibar also offers 26" W x 24" H models, in 50" and 60" lengths.

Frigibar storage boxes are made to the same exacting standards as its fiberglass cockpit freezers and refrigerators. The company specializes in made-to-order design.

Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

By Zuzana Prochaska

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:

…you understand now why you came this way.
