Queen’s University 1st at Battle of Lake Erie

Queen’s University took the first position out of six boats at the Battle of Lake Erie held September 19-20 at the Erie Yacht Club. The competition also included boats representing the Rochester Institute of Technology, Penn State University, Syracuse University, Penn State Behred and Mercyhurst University. Lineup for Queen’s University included Charlotte Chambers, Elle Pirie, Jude Martel and Joel Voyer.


2026 Canadian Sailing Hall of Fame induction

Approximately 120 guests welcomed the 12 new inductees into the Canadian Sailing Hall of Fame during a ceremony held on October 4 at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax. Congratulations to the 12 new inductees: Fredrick Walker “Casey” Baldwin, Logan Campbell, Mark Ellis, Sharon Green, Hank Lammens, Larry Lemieux, Scott Lutes, Christopher Pratt, William Roue, Joshua Slocum, Paul Tingley and Angus Walters.


J/80 & J/105 Canadians

J80 Team Relentless from Port Dover finished second

A total of 19 teams took part in the J/80 & J/105 Canadian Championships presented simultaneously, September 25-27, at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. 

In J/80, team “Breakaway J”, including Hugh McGugan, Bill Reid, Liam Wilson and Melanie Ellison (KYC), won gold out of 10 boats, followed by team “Relentless”, including Tim Salvatore, Gianmichael Di Lallo, Steven Shaw and Doug Folsetter (PDYC), and team “Puffin'”, including Darin Sameshima, Aaron Hayden, Matt Sirek and Michelle Tan (NYC).

In J/105, team “Hey Jude”, including James Rathbun (RCYC), took the first position out of nine boats, followed by team “The Usual Suspects”, including John Trumpener, Terry Michaelson and George Chernev (RCYC), and team “Starcross”, including Frank McLaughlin (RCYC).
