Sailing Shorts: Wickwire wins IOD Worlds

Congratulations to Peter Wickwire and Team Storm from Chester YC, including Holly MacMillan, Dan MacMillan, Andrew Chisholm and Henry Simms, who won the 2026 International One Design World Championship , held June 13-19 in Marblehead, MA (USA) out of 12 boats.

To say the regatta was challenging would be an understatement: the six straight days of sailing saw a variety of mostly breezy conditions—but Thursday and Friday pushed the envelope with wind speeds in the 22-30 knot range and 5’ swells. The final race saw regatta winner Wickwire lose his mast after rounding the windward mark.

Kingston hosts the 2026 J/80 NAs

A total of 27 boats were on the line in Kingston for the 2026 J/80 NAs, organized by CORK / Sail Kingston from July 18 to 25. Among them, 17 teams are representing Canada. Results are here

Port Credit to Host J24 NAs

Port Credit Yacht Club and the Canadian J/24 Class Association will host the 2026 J/24 North American Championship.

Regatta dates Sep 30-Oct 4 have been scheduled to take advantage of strong winds and typically fair fall conditions.
