2026 Mobility Cup Returns to Vancouver for 35th Anniversary!

October 22, 2026

The Mobility Cup returned to Vancouver for its 35th anniversary, bringing Canada’s largest annual regatta for sailors with disabilities back to the city where it all began in 1991. Hosted by the Adaptive Sailing Association of BC, AbleSail Network and Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, the five-day event welcomed 31 adaptive sailors, including 26 Canadians, for a week of competitive racing and community celebration on English Bay.

Sailors competed in Martin 16 adaptive sailboats, which can be equipped with specialized controls such as sip-and-puff systems and joysticks to help athletes with a range of physical disabilities steer and control their boats. The event showcased the skill and determination of its competitors, while highlighting the technology, volunteers and community partnerships that help make inclusive sailing possible.

More than 100 volunteers supported the event on and off the water, helping bring together sailors, organizers and supporters from across Canada and beyond. Thirty-five years after its founding, the Mobility Cup continues to demonstrate that competitive sailing can be accessible to athletes of different abilities and experience levels.

We cruised northeast on a 15-knot beam reach… perfect catamaran sailing conditions, watching the hazy shapes of the islands colourize and morph into crescent beaches, jungled ridgelines and rocky outcrops.
