Regional Round up: NS Awards Presented; Quebec Scheduled

Dec 5, 2024

At their 4th Annual Celebration of Excellence this weekend Tara Macaulay, Sarah Flanagan, Frank Denis and the Sail NS team honored so many remarkable individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport of sailing. The evening brought together 150 sailors from across Nova Scotia recognizing some fantastic accomplishments by sailors and clubs.

Daisy Cobden of Team Helix (arguably sailing’s most prolific social media personality) was honored with the 2024 President’s Award.

The President’s award is Sail Nova Scotia’s version of the Lifetime Achievement award. It has been awarded since 2015. It is awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the sport of sailing over many years and is selected by the President of Sail Nova Scotia.

This year, the trading cards with witty biography were introduced as a new way to raise funds and were extremely popular. Thirty individuals – prominent NS sailors and local enthusiasts from across the province – became ‘cards,’ sparking a fun wave of collecting and trading!

The Best of Two Worlds

By Mathew Channer
