Storm Match Racing Team 8th at Congressional Cup

Peter Wickwire and his Storm Match Racing Team (from from Halifax and sailing out of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron and Chester Yacht Club), including Dan MacMillan, Steve Flam, Travis Odenbach, Savannah Taylor and James Hayhoe, took the 8th position at their first participation at the Congressional Cup held April 30-May 4 at the Long Beach Yacht Club.

Following the Double Round Robin, Storm Match Racing Team registered six wins and 12 losses in this regatta including 10 boats. It was Canada’s first entry at Congressional Cup since the 1980s, a premier event on the prestigious World Match Racing Tour.

Wickwire and crew  took the 3rd position at the 2025 Ficker Cup held April 25-27 at the Long Beach Yacht Club last month to  qualify for the Congressional Cup. After being in second position after the double round robin, the Canadian boat lost 3-1 in semi final against the winner of the event, the French team of Maxime Mesnil, before winning the “Petit Final”. Details
