As we endure what I sincerely hope is the last winter storm of the year, it’s time to remind ourselves of what we can look forward to this summer. The biggest regatta in the Maritimes is Chester Race Week which will be held August 16th to 19th. So, here’s a nice video from last year’s regatta for inspiration:

In addition to the modern racing fleets, the regatta gets some of its character from the participation of the Chester Classics fleet. Some of these boats have been competing in Mahone Bay yacht racing since the 1920s. As part of the Chester Classic Cup Weekend the Outer Islands Race will see a wide selection of classic yachts participating. We’ll have more information on some these classic yachts in the coming months.

The Best of Two Worlds

By Mathew Channer

Interior British Columbia might not be as famous for recreational boating as Canada’s Great Lakes, yet it is no less a world-class boating destination. The mountains offer their own flavour of marine adventure with their series of long, deep ribbon lakes, and there is perhaps no area that embodies this more uniquely than the iconic Okanagan basin in southern B.C. One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
