2017 Sperry Challenge results

Sept 28, 2017

The 5th edition of the Sperry Challenge presented by BNI was held at the RStLYC in Montréal on Aug 26 which raised $25,000 in support of local sailors with disabilities (www.aqva.org), bringing the 5 year total to over $100,000! The event consisted of a regatta (22 entries), a cruise open to the public (26 people donated $100 in return for an afternoon on Lake St-Louis, courtesy of cruise skippers), a cocktail, dinner, silent auction and dance party. Sincere thank you to Helly Hansen, Sail Canada and Canadian Yachting Magazine for auction items and, most importantly, to our new title sponsor, BNI Canada, whose director is none other than Olympic and pro sailor Kai Bjorn. Save the date for next year’s BNI Challenge on August 25, 2018!

The mountains offer their own flavour of marine adventure with their series of long, deep ribbon lakes, and there is perhaps no area that embodies this more uniquely than the iconic Okanagan basin in southern B.C. One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
