The Lake Ontario Catalina Association invites all owners and crew for an evening of socializing and dinner with other Catalina people on May 26 at the Avalon Lounge, Port Whitby Marina, 301 Watson St W, Whitby.

The Royal Canadian Yacht Club has designated the Melges IC37 as the boat for the next three Canada’s Cup contest. The New York Yacht Club has gone a step further putting their money where their mast step is purchasing the first 20 copies of the new boat for use in its annual Invitational Cup.
200 tickets at $100 pp include a welcome glass, dinner w/wine, dessert, dancing to live music, silent auction and $20 tax receipt. Some parking is available.
Canadians will be invited to discover the joy of sailing or to enjoy their favourite sport this summer, particularly over the weekend of July 31st and August 1st as Sail Canada, in collaboration with the Provincial Associations, sailing clubs and schools across the country, will stage various initiation activities during the 2021 #GoSailing days.
The Annual General Meeting of Sail Nova Scotia will be held at 1pm on Saturday, February 10 at the Halifax Boat Show. Attendees will receive a free boat show pass to attend. More details have been sent to all clubs.
The J24 Canadian Championships return to the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron on July 19-21, 2019 Registration is open, expecting 15+ boats.
On Saturday June 4 from 8 am to noon, Bay Port Yachting Centre in Midland will return with its annual event.
Throw away the box, this is some fresh thinking
Seemingly part sailboat and part spaceship, the new Jeanneau Yachts 55 just busted through the boundaries of traditional yacht design. I couldn’t take my eyes off the bubble hardtop that met me at the dock and I stepped aboard with trepidation. A few hours later, I was planning how to spend my not-yet-won lottery winnings.

Over the past seven decades, Ontario’s marina industry has developed alongside some of Canada’s largest freshwater lakes. Boaters have been able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and create lasting memories on the water, with certain marinas dating back to the 1960s. As we reflect on this rich history, we can begin to see trends in how our footprint may have had an effect on the environment, in not-so-positive ways. However, by embracing innovative solutions and adopting sustainable practices, both marinas and boaters hold the key to preserving and enhancing the quality of our lakes and marine life for generations to come.
