Big Congratulations to all the NS winners who were recognized at the Sail Canada awards Saturday night in Toronto.

Bedford Basin Yacht Club, represented by Kate Pepler, for Learn to Sail program of the Year.Georgia Lewin-LaFrance named Youth Sailor of the Year.Peter Wickwire, finalist for Rolex Sailor of the Year

Stuart McCrea awarded the Gerry Rouffs Offshore Sailor of the Year.

Paul Tingley& Scott Lutes, Male Sailors of the Year.

Sail NS was represented by Provincial Coach Lisa Ross.

In July 2019, I met with Jeff Butler, who I hadn’t encountered before. Jeff was all fired up about a pet project called the Toronto Solar Boat Race. He had a lot of information, he had partners like Harbourfront and the RCYC.

Beneteau saw an opportunity to add a little thrill to any cruising adventure, so they took the hull of the First 53 racer (introduced just last year), and with a few fashionable changes, created the Oceanis Yacht 54, the new entry-level of Beneteau’s swanky Oceanis Yacht line. The result is a performance cruiser that sails like a witch and looks like a grande dame.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
