Canadian Waszp Championships

July 21, 2022

Portsmouth Harbour in Kingston was the site of this weekend’s Canadian Waszp Class Championship with 18 boats on the line. While the winds did not fully cooperate, the regatta was able to stage six races and bring the fleet together for its biggest event ever in this country.

The Waszp class is supported by CAN Sail GP which, through its We CAN FIL initiative has brought enthusiastic encouragement and several boats to foiling in Canada. The philosophy is to help the Canadian Sail GP concept by creating excitement across the country, developing foiling sailors and ardent fans.

One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
