Boaters for Best Care

Boaters for Best Care

Boaters in the Georgian Bay area rely on GBGH to provide the best care possible when needed.  Like all hospitals in Ontario, GBGH relies on members of the community to provide the funds for equipment necessary for your best care.  The government does not fund hospital equipment needs or capital costs.

The Emergency Department at GBGH is in the midst of a three-phase expansion and revitalization project.  Already, community donors have generously gifted over $4.2 million through the Foundation for the completion of Phase 1.

Together, the community is raising a total of $6.5 million to complete the project and ensure that the Emergency Department can provide area residents, cottagers and boaters with the best care for many years to come.

WILL YOU HELP?

With the completion of phase 1, your new Emergency Department is now a leading-edge facility, including private examination rooms, a new entrance, innovative registration kiosks and a state-of-the-art trauma room.  Phases 2 & 3 will add a four-bay sheltered ambulance garage to protect patients from the elements and retrofit and redevelop the old Emergency area.

The final element required is the CT scanner.  Staff rely on a CT Scanner to quickly identify and diagnose injuries that require immediate treatment.  It is also the primary tool used to diagnose patients with chest pain, head trauma, injuries to hands, feet and uncontrolled bleeding.

The CT Scanner at Georgian Bay General Hospital is aging and without a CT Scanner and the Emergency Department cannot function effectively, and lives will be at risk.

The Boaters for Best Care campaign plans to raise $1 Million over 3 years to support your Emergency Department revitalization and the new CT Scanner.

Donate to Boaters for Best Care today and help ensure that life-saving equipment is available when needed!

Bennington 22 MSB

By Andy Adams

If you’ve already had firsthand experience with a pontoon, you will easily understand the appeal of the Bennington 22 MSB. But if you haven’t, let’s start by reviewing a few of the reasons why pontoon boats have become top sellers in markets across North America.

Pontoon boats began in the early 1950s as basically four steel drums lashed to a frame. They were not unlike the log rafts of ancient cultures and not much more sophisticated at first.

The Best of Two Worlds

By Mathew Channer

Interior British Columbia might not be as famous for recreational boating as Canada’s Great Lakes, yet it is no less a world-class boating destination. The mountains offer their own flavour of marine adventure with their series of long, deep ribbon lakes, and there is perhaps no area that embodies this more uniquely than the iconic Okanagan basin in southern B.C. One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
