An Elegant Motor Yacht at the Cutting Edge of Design

Monte Carlo 52

July 25, 2019

The launch of the new Monte Carlo 52 will be one of the highlights of the Cannes Yachting Festival 2019. This 50-foot high-end motor yacht is eagerly awaited and will introduce the Monte Carlo “Smart Luxury” generation. The stylish flybridge powerboat has inherited all the superb signature features of a successful range: modern design, elegant lines, distinctive character, incredibly well-used spaces and a careful focus on details, not to mention the iconic large porthole, distinguishing the 15 m (50’) to 18 m (60’) class of yachts made in Vendée. The Monte Carlo 52 has greatly improved all these features. Her distinctive style is the work of a team of world-famous architects and designers: Carlo Nuvolari & Dan Lenard for the exterior line, Andréani Design for the interior accommodation.

The new Monte Carlo 52 is 16.25 metres long and has a beam of 4.6 metres. This makes her bigger and more beamy than the Monte Carlo 5, the earlier model in the line she replaces. Her tapered profile is accentuated by soft flowing lines and the aerodynamic shape of the wheelhouse, creating a harmonious effect enhanced by a stylish contrast between the matt tint of the huge windows and the light colours of the hull, the elegant coachroof, and the perfectly proportioned flybridge.

MAGNIFICENT LIVING SPACES BATHED IN LIGHT
Clad with the well-known bow-plate bearing the BENETEAU logo, the new hull offers much more space inside. The extensive saloon, the large freshly rearranged spaces of the flybridge, and the three cabins and two shower rooms, unfold to reveal a voluntarily spacy minimalist décor that is bang on trend. The MC52 is stunningly bright. With an unparalleled area of 20 m2, the glass side windows completely flood the living spaces of the main deck bringing the outside in. This is a feat of engineering achieved by means of discreet aluminium uprights which guarantee an almost single-piece all-round view.

The galley is well-sited aft, connecting with the cockpit. When the large sliding glass door is open this creates a wonderfully seamless indoor and outdoor space. The same fresh, chic, minimalist atmosphere features in the lounge, with a comfy sofa to port around a table seating up to six guests. Facing it is a double bench and a lifting 40” TV screen. On either side of the huge windshield, the two side windows open to improve ventilation. The master cabin is generously roomy at 16.5 m2 and has a separate entry, large rectangular windows, an ensuite shower room and a spacious wardrobe. Compared with other yachts of the same class, the cabin punches well above its weight. Similarly, the forward VIP cabin is also incredibly roomy with large portholes. Guests can soak up the night sky at sea and watch the stars through the glass deck hatches just over the double island bed. The guest cabin to starboard has twin berths converting to a double berth. At once luxurious and practical, the open spaces of the flybridge are the ideal place to unwind. Enjoy stress-free life in the open air, made easy with the fitted galley, a lounge space for eight guests, a large starboard bench with a reclining back, the forward L-shaped co-pilot’s seat and the driving station to port. An optional T-top with an electric sunroof protects the open air space offering some privacy, without detracting from the sleek lines of the Monte Carlo 52.

AVANT-GARDE PRODUCTION – THE HALLMARK OF EXCELLENCE
Availing of outstanding industrial facilities and avant-garde production techniques, the Monte Carlo 52 demonstrates that the BENETEAU boatyard focuses on quality control of the highest standards. It is through unique expertise that a French brand of international repute such as BENETEAU has been able to meet all the demands of the high-end yacht market in this elegant cruiser derived from the Monte Carlo Yachts brand. Such is their know-how that they have been able to draw from an extensive catalogue of textiles and materials to customize the style of the powerboat, creating an exclusive atmosphere with brushed oak or matt walnut woodwork, different shades of carpets and linings, combined with a wide selection of leathers including nubuck.

Designed in collaboration with MICAD, the work on the new Monte Carlo 52 hull focussed on improving performance and comfort. With a versatile 15° Vee hull, the bow is beautifully flared, cutting through the sea with ease and providing excellent protection from spray. Less pronounced, the aft was designed especially to house the IPS Volvo drive and to optimise efficiency and output. Equipped with a choice of 2 x Volvo IPS 600 or 650, the Monte Carlo 52 reaches peak speeds of 27 knots. Her cruising speed is between 20 and 22 knots. Ideal for offshore cruising, the boat is fitted with large capacity tanks (1300 L fuel and 400 L water) and at cruising speed she has a range of 180 nautical miles. So, with the boat’s very reasonable fuel consumption of 120 litres per hours you can enjoy many a long cruise. With an output of 6 litres/nautical mile this ocean-going economical yacht is particularly efficient. The exclusive Monte Carlo 52 motor yacht is great value for money, outstripping similar luxury cruisers on the market.

The new elegant, luxurious, contemporary, spacious and bright Monte Carlo 52 marks the introduction of the “Smart Luxury” generation of high-end cruisers by BENETEAU. Due to be launched in Cannes next September, the Monte Carlo 52 will be the flagship of the upcoming boat show season.

New Boats: Beneteau Oceanis 34.1 – A Sleek, Good -Looking Delight To Sail

By Katherine Stone

There is nothing more that I enjoy than being with friends and messing about in boats. Messing about in brand-new boats on a champagne sailing day on Lake Ontario at the beginning of the summer doesn’t get any better. To have the new owner, Helmuth Strobel and Anchor Yachts dealer Pancho Jimenez aboard made it even more special, as they can also speak to what they truly enjoy about the boat. We keep our own boat in a harbour that has a long waiting list for boats over 35 feet, so this little gem would definitely fit the bill and feels like a much bigger boat. True to the spirit of the 7th generation Oceanis line, the 34.1 is built in Poland and replaces the 35.1. It is 1,000 lbs lighter, 14 cm narrower and has 29% more sail area.
