Let the sun shine in: Scout 350 LXZ

Scout Boats’ new luxury crossover series launches with the 350 LXZ, a premium day cruiser. Designed for entertaining and overnighting, the boat comes with a long list of first-in-class amenities including Webasto’s 20 Series sliding electric sunroof as standard equipment. The vessel is slated to debut in early 2021.

With the touch of a button, the large tempered safety glass panel of the 20 Series sunroof quietly slides forward to let in fresh air and sunlight. Stepless locking ensures it stays in place, whether wide open at 31.5″ L x 31.5″ W or tilted for ventilation. Closed, it’s completely waterproof and the grey-tinted pane blocks excessive brightness.

Marrying innovation with functionality, Scout Boats’ 350 LXZ reimagines what a performance luxury crossover should be. Beyond a full glass windshield and sliding side windows, the automotive inspired sunroof adds to the boat’s spacious feeling. Abundant seating, including a luxurious bow area, is cleverly placed to maximize socialization, while retaining flow and walkability. Below deck is a full head compartment and comfortable overnight accommodations.

Scout dealer Rob Rule at Maple City Marine in Chatham, ON is looking forward to the boat but because of COVID, has not yet been aboard. “The boat was scheduled to complete for the Miami show which is not happening. Pricing I think will start in the $500s progressing into the mid $600s but will confirm.

There is already a waiting list for this boat so I think we may not see one until mid summer – I was told in July. We have a buyer so let’s hope.”

Dodging holiday havoc in the tropics

Getting out of town was top-of-mind as it was only November and I was already saturated with Christmas traditions – the music, the glitter, the cookies, the sales. A week in relatively remote Belize was the siren song so we booked a 45-foot catamaran with The Moorings and packed our bags.
