Le Boat will be featured on the PBS tourism show TravelScope with host Joseph Rosendo on PBS. The show is scheduled to be released across the PBS network in September 2019.

The Cruising Canada: Ottawa and the Rideau Canal TravelScope episode follows the adventures of Rosendo and his wife Julie as they Ottawa and take a captivating trip along the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Rideau Canal, aboard one of Le Boat’s premier Horizon cruiser.

“Taking a chartered Le Boat vessel down the Rideau Canal is a glamping experience,” comments Rosendo.

There are many stops at local villages and towns along the Rideau Canal that offer their own unique activities and shopping experiences.”

Le Boat’s episode on TravelScope was filmed during Le Boat’s first fall season and showcases the highlights of the picturesque, Rideau Canal. You can follow along as the Rosendo’s cruise through idyllic surroundings, discover fascinating culture, historic sites and indulge in authentic Canadian cuisine.

Since filming, Le Boat has expanded their fleet of premier Horizon cruisers to 20 boats, with a planned four more boats arriving in 2020. Le Boat has also added a second base at Seeley’s Bay. The addition of this well-located base will give visitors the chance to discover even more of the Rideau Canal.

One of the biggest maritime tragedies in World War II is the story of convoy PQ-17 which carried relief supplies to the Russians. In July 1942, this convoy travelling from Iceland to Russia was attacked by German forces. Upon receiving intelligence, the escorts were ordered to withdraw and 22 out of the 33 ships in the convoy were sunk. The merchant sailors didn’t have the capacity to defend themselves and 153 men were killed. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom.
