The Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) is undertaking a Planning, Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for the Highway 6 Little Current Swing Bridge located in the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands in Northeastern Ontario. The bridge provides year-round highway access between the community of Little Current and Manitoulin Island and mainland areas of Northern Ontario.

Stantec Consulting Limited (Stantec) was retained by the MTO to complete the Planning, Preliminary Design and Class EA Study for this assignment. A Boat Survey has been created to collect information from boat owners/operators or users in the Town of Little Current and on Manitoulin Island in order to understand boat and marine travel patterns in the North Channel.
