I always have to laugh when I see something like this in print- putting the boats away for the season – because we sailors in BC are looking at the best times to sail in the coming fall and winter months.  There is a lot less traffic, and if you have noticed, the winds have been steady and the sun bright. Yes, we now have to wear a few more clothes to keep warm but it’s worth it to be out on the water.

I realize that as I’m retired that I will get out far more then the average person who has to work and can’t get out as the sun drops pretty early, but the weekends are still great.

 Hello John, 

I wanted to reach out to you regarding a recent letter from one of your readers to the CYOB Inbox.  It was about a DeFOUL article recently published in Canadian Yachting OnBoard that detailed the successful use of DeFOUL in an antifouling paint removal project on a 1981 Catalina by a veteran sailor.

A question regarding government approval was posed, which I would like to address.  The Canadian government (Health Canada) requires our reporting of formulations to be in compliance with WHIMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) regulations which includes the disclosure of all hazardous chemical materials in the formulation. From there, an SDS (Safety Data Sheet) is created.

The SDS sheets for all of our products, including DeFOUL are in compliance with WHIMIS and are drafted by an independent, accredited 3rd party company according to the Hazardous Products Regulations (February 11, 2015).  All disclosures made on our SDS sheets comply with Canadian disclosure laws as to any toxic or hazardous materials.  All pertinent ingredients are disclosed on the SDS as required by the Canadian Center for Occupational Health and Safety.

A copy of the SDS sheets for any of our products are always available upon request.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
