The April 2016 issue of Canadian Yachting magazine includes a beautiful West Coast destination, Swan Lake in B.C. by Linda Leitch, a colourful rundown of Clarity Nicoll’s experience competing in a major regatta in the BVI’s and Jennifer Harker’s Georgian Bay Cruise last summer; all beautiful and inspiring destinations!

In anticipation of the start of the 2016 season, we feature two important articles of a technical nature. Boating authority Rob MacLeod researches and explains the sometimes mysterious ways your propeller works and how to ensure best performance in the season to come. Then a wave of Underwater Lighting is sweeping across Canada for a whole range of reasons from important safety benefits all the way to good old rock ‘n’ roll!

The Vancouver International Boat Show is launching a new photo contest celebrating BC’s love of boating. The “Why BC Loves Boating Photo Contest” invites boaters to share with the world why they love boating the more than 27,000 km of ocean coastline, hundreds of lakes and countless rivers, that make the waters of BC amongst the finest boating destinations on the planet. The grand-prize winner will receive a $1,000 shopping spree at the 2013 Vancouver Boat Show and a pair of tickets to the show; plus, 10 honourable mentions will each receive a $100 shopping spree and tickets to the show.

Help celebrate the 51st Year Anniversary of Mosquito Creek Marina, owned and operated by the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumix (Squamish Nation) Last year this event became Western Canada’s largest floating boat show! The 2013 show had 165 boats displayed along 2,500 feet of dock space, 70 display booths, plus broker hospitality tents and demonstration slips for sea trials.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
