Olympic Sailor Featured at Vancouver Boat Show

Olympic sailor Annie Haeger will take the stage at the Vancouver International Boat Show February 2nd to discuss how she is helping Canada’s SailGP team shape its sailing program for current and future generations.

Haeger recently joined CANSailGP as a Strategist, preparing the team for the upcoming ROCKWOOL Canada Sail Grand Prix in Halifax this June, the biggest sailing event in Canadian history. The race will showcase top athletes flying high-tech F50 boats with speeds approaching 100km/h!

Having started her sailing journey starting at just five years old, Haeger has a decorated background in the sport, and she will share her wealth of experience with Boat Show attendees. Graduating from Boston College in 2012, she was named US Sailor of the Year in 2015 and has won six US national championships. In 2016, Annie represented the United States at the Rio Olympics, competing in the 470 Class event finishing 7th out of 20 teams.

Adventure cruising

Another seminar speaker looking to create some waves will be Max Shaw who will speak about the very personal journey of his family, and how he and his wife sold their house and all their belongings and embarked on a once-in a lifetime sailing adventure with their two young children. Max will touch on the troubles of being a family of four, and then five, on their 7-year trek around the Pacific as they face dirty diapers at sea and maintenance in exotic locations and uncharted reefs.

For sustainability lovers, attendees are encouraged to stop by Jeff Cote’s presentations which will guide attendees through the common building blocks of a sustainable electrical system, designed to significantly reduce the reliance on engines and/or generators with some eco-friendly upgrades.
