Once again, I had the pleasure of joining CY’s test guru Andy Adams on a boat review. This time, out on Georgian Bay, we put the Grady White Freedom 235 Dual Console to the test. There are so many great things to tell you about this classic beauty.

Andy
If I were required to compare Grady White’s Freedom 235 Dual Console to an animal, I would tell you that she has the character of a Labrador Retriever. Here are a few reasons why:
She is friendly and doesn’t mind being around people. The 235 Freedom DC can handle up to ten passengers at once and everyone is comfortable with her. The adjustable, rear-facing lounge seat is a very comfortable accompaniment to the many cozy seating options.

She is a People Pleaser. For that reason, she is very adaptable. She will play when you want to play, whether that is fishing, skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, gunk-holing, anchoring or entertaining. This user-friendly boat is designed to offer the cross-functionality that boat owners so often seek in a day vessel.

She is dependable. She is built to withstand rough water. Passengers can rely on her to perform in the toughest conditions due to the Sea V2 hull design which features a sharp deep vee near the bow and declining deadrise to provide a flatter aft section for steadiness.

She is an A-Class Companion. She will always make you look good and she is built to do so with every attention to classic Grady White detail. Even the minutest elements are well designed and thoughtful.

WakeWith so many great characteristics wrapped into one well thought out boat, it is clear to me, that the GW Freedom 235 DC can be a best friend – just like a Labrador Retriever.

Watch for Andy Adams’ full review and Sea Trial results in an upcoming issue of Canadian Yachting.

Bennington 22 MSB

If you’ve already had firsthand experience with a pontoon, you will easily understand the appeal of the Bennington 22 MSB. But if you haven’t, let’s start by reviewing a few of the reasons why pontoon boats have become top sellers in markets across North America.

Pontoon boats began in the early 1950s as basically four steel drums lashed to a frame. They were not unlike the log rafts of ancient cultures and not much more sophisticated at first.

The Best of Two Worlds

By Mathew Channer

Interior British Columbia might not be as famous for recreational boating as Canada’s Great Lakes, yet it is no less a world-class boating destination. The mountains offer their own flavour of marine adventure with their series of long, deep ribbon lakes, and there is perhaps no area that embodies this more uniquely than the iconic Okanagan basin in southern B.C. One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
