Out of the Galley and into The Gallery

AGM

July 7, 2022

Toronto our host city for the 2022 AGM and Conference is culture rich. Beyond the food, neighbourhoods, markets and major attractions there is a wealth of galleries and museums for you to explore. Many are a short walk or cab ride from our hotel. By far the most renowned and largest is the Art Gallery of Ontario with superb permanent collections housed in over 500,000 square feet. You will want to be there for many hours so this is an excellent visit on a day when you have a light schedule. But if you just want to pop into a gallery and combine it with a walk or lunch, here are some other fabulous options.

Within a half hour stroll (or a short cab ride) you can visit The 401 Richmond Gallery, a hub of 140 artists accepting visitors each afternoon, The Bau-Xi Gallery houses contemporary fine art, The Textile Museum of Canada, TIFF Bell Lightbox, or the Museum of Illusions. Each one is located in its own interesting walkable area. In the historic Distillery District, you can find gallery upon gallery showcasing numerous art mediums amidst the charming ambiance and cobblestone laneways. If the weather is nice include a visit to our fabulous Harbourfront area and visit The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery.

A little further from the hotel but within a short cab ride is the Yorkville area where you will find Gallery Phillip with indigenous art and sculpture. Close by is the Bata Shoe Museum and the Gardiner Museum of Ceramics. And if you are a fan of the Television you will need to travel a little further but the MZTV Museum of Television could be fun.

Are galleries not for you? We have many more exciting activities which will be tailored to pandemic conditions closer to the date. Plan to get out of the galley, register for the conference today and look forward to a fabulous time.

If booked before July 26, 2022 (subject to availability) the rate of $229.00 per night, + taxes will apply. After this date, and until reservations close on October 3, 2022, the rate will be $249.00 per night, + taxes. You can call the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel at 1-888-627-7175, identifying yourself as part of the CPS-ECP group, to reserve your room. One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
