Introducing CPS-ECP Board of Directors Member: Brenda Cochrane

Brenda was born in Vancouver and began boating with her parents at a very young age. When Brenda was 8 years old, she moved to Ladysmith on Vancouver Island with her mom and dad, 2 younger sisters and a 28’ Bayliner. Brenda has always been known as a keen learner and so as her parents were part of Mount Brenton Power Squadron, Brenda was asking questions and taking it all in.

When Brenda was 12, she took and passed her CPS-ECP training and became the youngest member of Mount Brenton Power Squadron. Her family found a 1946 40’ Chris Craft that needed some love and attention, and that became her family’s home most weekends for the next 8 years until Brenda was married to her husband Gregg, and then moved to Vancouver.

Brenda and her husband’s family grew as they had 4 children and knew that boating was going to be part of their story as a family so, while living in Kelowna, they purchased their 26’ Bayliner that was small enough that they could trailer it and use in on Okanagan Lake or take it to the Gulf Islands each summer to her favorite stomping grounds.

CPS-ECP has been part of Brenda’s story since she was 12 and over the years, she has held many roles including, Treasurer, Assistant Commander, Commander and District Commander. Brenda’s logical mind, always learning posture, and contagious personality has helped her experience the best of CPS-ECP.

Brenda now lives in Sidney on Vancouver Island with her husband of over 30 years and is enjoying her next adventure. She and her husband sold their Bayliner and purchased a Trojan 36’ Tri-Cabin that they now live on full time.
