POTW: Nature in Telegraph Cove

Eagle

Dec 6, 2018

My husband and I have a 30 foot Catalina we keep in Nanaimo.

This past October we drove to Telegraph Cove with friends and spent a day of wonder cruising the area as part of a fundraiser for MERS (Marine Education and Research Society).  We were graced with the presence of humpback whales, sea lions, and eagles on a warm sunny day.

Take your pick from this collection of shots … there were so many to choose from.

I reach for the VHF to radio the lockmaster in charge of Erie Canal’s Lock 32 dead ahead. Our boat spins gently in the current like a maple key in a mud puddle.

“This is Onondaga,” I say. “Headed westbound and requesting passage.”
