The Photo of the Week comes from Paul Crammond  of Clarion Boats who sent a note responding to our editorial note last issue

Paul writes “The Shot was taken at Clarion’s 1st Annual Rendezvous. This event was a tribute to the founder and master craftsman of Clarion Boats, Dwight Boyd, and to the Clarion designer, Steve Killing and a celebration of Clarion Boats, building modern mahogany speedboats since 1987.

“There 10 Clarions there, with approx 50 people, all having fun!”

On my first day as a commercially registered yacht captain, I sailed a Fontaine Pajot 38 catamaran from mainland Australia across the Whitsunday Passage to the western shores of the world-famous Whitsunday islands.

We cruised northeast on a 15-knot beam reach… perfect catamaran sailing conditions, watching the hazy shapes of the islands colourize and morph into crescent beaches, jungled ridgelines and rocky outcrops.
