CYOB Inbox: More props for the Boat Nerd

BRNKL Office Exterior Front Door

Nov 19, 2020

Hi John,

There’s nothing that we like to do more than talk “nerd”, especially when it comes to boats! Your new feature “The Boat Nerd – the boater’s guide to the newfangled” sounds like an outstanding idea.

As a Canadian company with Made in Canada products, our focus is to bring exciting and practical innovation to the marine industry in Canada and beyond. Whether it be through our remote security on monitoring product, BRNKL; or how we’ve bridged the gap between the smart home and the smart boat with the introduction of our newest product the BRNKL Mate; or even, our WeatherCam that provides a real time live feed with overlaid weather data at marinas, our goal is to provide boat owners with the latest technology available to, as we like to say, “leave their boat without letting go.”

Something notable that was just announced was Soundings Trade Only’s “Top 10 Most Innovative Marine Companies for 2020”. We were thrilled (and very shocked) to be included in the Top 10. Feel free to read more about it here

If we can help you out in any way or provide you with any content for “The Boat Nerd”, we’d be more than happy to help.

All the best and we look forward to chatting soon.

Regards,

Sean Battistoni

New Boats: Beneteau Oceanis 34.1 – A Sleek, Good -Looking Delight To Sail

By Katherine Stone

There is nothing more that I enjoy than being with friends and messing about in boats. Messing about in brand-new boats on a champagne sailing day on Lake Ontario at the beginning of the summer doesn’t get any better. To have the new owner, Helmuth Strobel and Anchor Yachts dealer Pancho Jimenez aboard made it even more special, as they can also speak to what they truly enjoy about the boat. We keep our own boat in a harbour that has a long waiting list for boats over 35 feet, so this little gem would definitely fit the bill and feels like a much bigger boat. True to the spirit of the 7th generation Oceanis line, the 34.1 is built in Poland and replaces the 35.1. It is 1,000 lbs lighter, 14 cm narrower and has 29% more sail area.
