Hamilton, ON’s Shark two-time champ, Keven Piper, spent his fall vacation with his ILCA-6 sailor 15-year-old son heading to the J80 Worlds in Newport. Along the way, Willem illustrated the race they were heading to, and that’s our Sketch of the Week (SOTW?), this time.
With things the way they are, a whole new batch of Canadians are discovering that boating is IT! These great shots shots come from from Mike Ontotsky who writes “We’re actually new boaters as of June but those pics were just taken at the beginning of August as we did the entire Trent Severn!”

Dear Andy Adams: I am writing in response to your article on the Miami International Boat Show. We have just gotten back from the show and to say we were disappointed is a major understatement.
This Photo of the Week came from our own CY Team member Sarah C who, like many of us, is trying to coax the last bit of enjoyment out of a seriously disrupted season. “Full winter gear boating this past weekend!” I am sure many of you are taking toques to the boat and doing the same – it’s going to be a long winter.

As the plane started its descent, bright blue skies gave way to crystal clear turquoise waters as we skimmed over the famous Maho Beach. Exiting the airport, I was hit with a wall of warm salty air from the northeast trade winds. Nothing compares to arriving in the Caribbean.
From the airport, I headed to the Regatta Village in Port de Plaisance. Wednesday being ‘Day 0’ was registration day of the Regatta. Teams were out on the water to shake out sails, on the docks making last-minute preparations and in the Regatta Village for registration and most importantly picking up their cases of Heineken.
