Fruit Infused Water Recipes

Fruit Infusion

Fruit Infused water is a top notch way to stay hydrated and have deliciously refreshing drinks ready when you are on board.  They are a great alternative to alcoholic beverages and there are countless ways to dress them up and switch up the flavours to suit anyone’s taste.  A full version of the benefits of Fruit Infused water can be read in the print edition of Canadian Yachting magazine, August 2014.

Honeydew Mojito Workout Water

Honeydew Mojito Workout Water

This fat burning drink is perfect before, during and after a workout. It’s packed with vitamin C to keep your metabolism going strong. In addition, the mint will help cool you down after a hot workout.

Makes 4 litres (refill 2-4 times)

¼ cup fresh mint

1 cup honeydew melon, sliced into chunks

1 lime, thinly sliced into rings

Add mint to bottom of clean, 4-liter pitcher and — using a fork or muddler — squish the leaves to release the oils. Add in the melon and limes, top with 3 cups of ice and then cover with water. Place in your fridge for 1-3 hours before serving. Once the water is halfway consumed, refill with more cold water. You can continue refilling 3-5 times or until flavor is lost. At that time, replace with more fruit.

*A note on the water bottle method: You may not be able to get the ingredients out if you use a traditional water bottle. For re-use, I recommend using a water bottle with a wide mouth for easier extraction of ingredients.

New Boats: Beneteau Oceanis 34.1 – A Sleek, Good -Looking Delight To Sail

By Katherine Stone

There is nothing more that I enjoy than being with friends and messing about in boats. Messing about in brand-new boats on a champagne sailing day on Lake Ontario at the beginning of the summer doesn’t get any better. To have the new owner, Helmuth Strobel and Anchor Yachts dealer Pancho Jimenez aboard made it even more special, as they can also speak to what they truly enjoy about the boat. We keep our own boat in a harbour that has a long waiting list for boats over 35 feet, so this little gem would definitely fit the bill and feels like a much bigger boat. True to the spirit of the 7th generation Oceanis line, the 34.1 is built in Poland and replaces the 35.1. It is 1,000 lbs lighter, 14 cm narrower and has 29% more sail area.
