Homfray Lodge

There are new owners and of course we are still dealing with Covid 19 so check in for current updates at their website.

Homfray Lodge is located in Homfray Channel, one of the isolated inlets of globally renowned Desolation Sound, British Columbia. It’s only reachable by boat or float plane. It’s truly an amazing wilderness lodge that allows you to get away from it all.

Desolation Sound falls within the traditional territories of the Klahoose, Tla’amin, and Hamalco First Nations.

Homfray Channel was named after Robert Homfray, Civil Engineer , b.1824 d, 1902. The best account of his exploits are contained in the book, The Chilcotin War: A Tale of Death and Reprisal. The tale is compelling. Full of the perils and dangers of an attempt to find a better way to the Chilcotin Gold fields via Bute Inlet.

Dusk at Homfray LodgeThe lodge offers an assortment of accommodation options. We offer spacious and open private One and Two Chalets that sleep up to 6 guests, as well as Lodge Suites, each with private bathrooms, perfect for 2 guests. All inclusive stays are available between May and mid-October. Weather permitting, we may have availability outside of these dates, please feel free to contact us with any inquires.

Homfray Lodge original structures were erected in 2008. Substantial further improvements were added after 2011 including: a new duplicate chlorine water filtration system; environmentally friendly septic system; hydroelectric system, thanks to a river that runs through the property, with 24/7 power and back up generator; a massive dock for use from our guests (ocean swimming, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, morning yoga).

Aerial View of Hombray LodgeYou have to see it for yourself to truly experience the beauty and natural wonder of the area. We absolutely love it at Homfray Lodge and we look forward to sharing it with you.

New Boats: Beneteau Oceanis 34.1 – A Sleek, Good -Looking Delight To Sail

By Katherine Stone

There is nothing more that I enjoy than being with friends and messing about in boats. Messing about in brand-new boats on a champagne sailing day on Lake Ontario at the beginning of the summer doesn’t get any better. To have the new owner, Helmuth Strobel and Anchor Yachts dealer Pancho Jimenez aboard made it even more special, as they can also speak to what they truly enjoy about the boat. We keep our own boat in a harbour that has a long waiting list for boats over 35 feet, so this little gem would definitely fit the bill and feels like a much bigger boat. True to the spirit of the 7th generation Oceanis line, the 34.1 is built in Poland and replaces the 35.1. It is 1,000 lbs lighter, 14 cm narrower and has 29% more sail area.
