Canada Metals Pacific Acquires Rocna Anchors

Canada Metals Pacific (CMP), the BC manufacturer of anodes and other marine products, recently announced their purchase of Rocna Anchors, formerly of New Zealand. CMP already manufactures a line of anchor chain and this acquisition complements this product offering. Rocna had already addressed a concern about product quality after reports of metal failure in a batch of their anchors built in Asia. Under the new Rocna ownership CMP has fully extended warranties on Rocna anchors to include bending as well as breakage. This will help boost confidence in the unique Rocna anchor design.

CMP is an innovator in metal components and markets a full line of marine anodes. They are considered the innovator responsible for the introduction of aluminum anodes, which are proving to be more effective as a marine anode and do not release harmful chemicals into the environment. The 2014 NP Yacht Owners Rendezvous at Telegraph Harbour Marina last week was a huge success, attended by 24 boats and 55 people.  Everyone enjoyed the great food, music and Mexican theme.  A good time was had by all and the weather cooperated despite a few downpours on the last day.  Educational and round-table sessions for both women and men were well attended.  Many thanks to Malcolm Ellison of Lightship Mobile Marine for his entertaining and informative sessions, stories and laughs.

Boat Show at Mosquito Creek September 22-25

Mosquito Creek Marina’s 6th annual Boat Show at the Creek promises to bring at least 150 power and sailboats to the North Shore facility. Sponsored by the BC Yacht Brokers Association, this is the South Coast’s major fall floating boat show. Exhibits also include marine vendors and suppliers “on the water” in booths on a floating platform.

Show features this year include moorage for show-goers who arrive by boat ($25 per day plus special fuel dock rates), dedicated slips for sea-trial use and quiet rooms for broker-client meetings, daily educational seminars on site, children’s activities and canoe races.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
