Lemon Meringue

As the summer slow fades to autumn, every day by the boat gets more special. Labour Day turned out the be one of those unique days capped off with dinner overlooking the boats with warmth and socializing just as it should be.

The weather leading up to last Monday had showed signs of what was about to come, ie fall, winter, snow etc. But as these things do when the stars align, a bunch of friends instinctively gathered at a table on the lawn, food was spontaneously produced from coolers and libations administered. Nobody really planned it (perhaps fearing jinxing the late summer splendour) but there we were.

The boating ‘thing’ includes a lot of varied activities but the evenings you most often remember months later amid the February scowl, for me anyhow, involve overlooking some lovely boats, good food, and lots of rambling conversation.

And on top of all that, someone brought out a delicious, home baked, lemon meringue pie. Perfection!
