Dockside Dining: When Pigs Fly on Lake Erie

Aug 22, 2024

The south shore of Lake Erie is America with a capital A. It’s surprisingly rural when you come from Canada – not the bright lights and big city at all – just friendly folk and authentic American food.

Here’s a spot you’d probably never discover if you didn’t travel by boat.  Westfield NY is in the harbour at Barcelona NY, roughly midway between Dunkirk and Erie PA and just a shot across Lake Erie from Port Dover.

Our fearless dockside diner, David McCann says, ” Great BBQ joint on the beach. 5/6’ draft into harbor, we anchored on the beach and swam ashore.”

The menu is packed with real bbq and they have a smoker out back that delivers stacks of authentic brisket, shredded chicken and mac’n’cheese and the like. “Food was great, as were the drinks.  Friendly staff.”

Boating to nifty dining spots is the best. Please let us know where you tie up to lunch in splendour. It can be waterside grandeur, hot dogs or especially fish and chips.  Just send some photos and your take on the dining destination to onboard@kerrwil.com and please put dining in the subject line. Let’s share some good eatin’.
