Boaters Care:  Offering a lifeline to one of our own.

Scott Taylor

Longtime boater/friend John Hanna sent along this note regarding Scott Taylor.

Scott Taylor has been a part of the boating community his whole life: as a racing sailor, financier, and in the last ten years as a yacht broker at Anchor Yacht Sales, where he’s helped almost 150 individuals and families find the boat of their dreams. Now Scott needs the community to be here for him.

Scott is fighting a cancer that requires him to have costly monthly treatments not covered by public health care. He has continued to work since his diagnosis, but the financial burden has become unbearable.

“Dealing with an illness like this is hard enough. Then you find out our system doesn’t cover the treatment costs. It shouldn’t be this way.”

 Scott T.

One of Scott’s most recent clients has started a GoFundMe initiative with a bold goal of raising $50,000 to help with medical costs. Lori and others have been getting the word out that even a small donation will make a big difference.

“I’m so grateful to Scott for helping us find the boat that will make our dream of doing the Great Loop come true. Helping him with what he’s going though now just makes sense.”

Lori M.

Whether you know Scott, are in the business, or just want to pay it forward for a fellow boater, please follow the certified GoFundMe link below to make a contribution.

Tugnuts.com is quite a unique resource. The online forum has quick links to a chat, info about cruises & gatherings, a channel to ask questions of the Ranger Tugs Factory, Ranger Tugs Technical Discussions, “How to” videos and more.

Sailing into the Future at Antigua Sailing Week

By Mathew Channer

“Standby tack,” Canadian sailor Katy Campbell orders. The crew scrambles over the sheet lines and braces on the deck.

“Three, two, one, tack!”

I wait until the bow turns into the wind and the headsail snaps over, then crawl over the cabin top of Panacea X to the now windward side. The trim team smoothly sheets on the headsail and a competitor vessel shoots past our stern, feet away, as our Solana 45 beats eastward along Antigua’s south coast.
