Y Adapter Corrects Dockside Connections

Hubbell Y Adapter

Sept 22, 2022

Cruising boaters visiting new destinations can face challenges when the marina’s shorepower system differs from that of the boat. The Hubbell Marine YQ230 Intelligent Y Adapter allows owners to easily correct 30A and 50A connection mismatches for safe, reliable electrical service anywhere.

Designed for boats on 50A service, the YQ230 Intelligent Y Adapter utilizes two 30A dockside receptacles on separate phases to provide full power to the vessel. Its intelligent internal logic checks that connection polarity is correct to protect against mis-wired circuits and phase errors.

This technology also determines whether both dockside plugs are engaged. If not, an internal 3-pole contactor breaks both hot and neutral circuits to guard against the possibility of a live, unconnected plug.

Hubbell’s YQ230 features fully molded connectors and a rugged thermoplastic outer housing that is both UV- and impact-resistant for long service life. Fully grommet-sealed against humidity, fog and rain, the unit incorporates innovative cord clamps to help prevent strain on terminals.

A safety indicator light confirms correct connections. In high-visibility safety yellow, the Hubbell Marine YQ230 Intelligent Y Adapter carries an MSRP of US$895.
