Recently Canadian Yachting surveyed you, our readers to help us plan for our magazines and online digests in the year ahead. We were delighted to receive 650 detailed responses – you obviously have a lot to tell us! Please keep the feedback coming.

We held a random draw among the respondents and the winner of a Binnacle gift card is Charlie Boudreau of Kincardine. Interestingly and highly topical, Charlie is in the process of converting the auxiliary in his C&C 34 to an electric drive. Electric power is a topic that we know interests a lot of boaters these days, so we have asked Charlie to bring us up to speed (pub intended) on his conversion.

CYOB will bring you his story in the weeks ahead. Thanks Charlie and thanks to all of you who participated – we got some very helpful information.

Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:
