New Moorings 5000 Cat for 50th Anniversary

Our roving reporter Katherine Stone was racing through the huge US Boat Show in Annapolis but caught up with the Moorings folks and sent along this point form report and a few great photos.
-Moorings Press event held on their new Moorings 5000 catamaran
-50th anniversary of the Moorings
–Hurricane did do a number on the Marsh Harbour where the storm sat for 48 straight hours, destroying the structure and grounds, but many of the boats were moved to other locations. They were 9 days without communication, but all 25 employees and their families and ok and transferred to other islands.
-Nassau and Exumas are now new home until they reassess as it will be a long time to rebuild. Palm Key Marina on the east side of the island is new site and easy-hop sailing in the Exumas.
-Bahamas still open for business with 700 islands and many unaffected by hurricane.
-Sunsail moving into site with Moorings in Nassau and Exumas
-New Destination in Paraty, Brazil for their first South American location with 4 monohulls for mid-November launch. Area is super protected with large bay and untouched, pristine cruising grounds
-534 Power Cat will be their newest boat with four cabins – to be launched in June 2020 in BVIs
-Sunsail buying new lagoon 424s and 464s ready for peak season
-Upgrading all their linens with the best they could find – Ralph Lauren won!
