Operation Life Jacket – Thornbury Ontario

Operation Life Jacket

Sept 26, 2019

Blue Mountain Power and Sail Squadron through member Dwight Dyson’s leadership, worked together with the local marine supply, the Town of Blue Mountains, Thornbury Yacht Club members and the illustrious Thornbury Harbour Staff to collect approximately 110 Lifejackets during a four-week Operation Life Jacket promotion. Communications were from Gyles Sails and Marine, the Harbour Office, the town’s newspaper, Thornbury Yacht Club newsletter ‘Bump and Grind’ and diverted donations from the Beaver Valley Outreach. People purchased new life jackets with the sole purpose of donating to the program, as well as donations of gently used life jackets in all sizes. Thirty percent of the jackets were for children.

All donations will be airlifted from Camp Borden in Angus, through the Canadian Rangers Foundation to Northern Indigenous communities.

Thank you to Dwight, Thornbury Yacht Club and the Town of Blue Mountains community for your generous support.

Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
