What Plan? Your Plan…..Strategic Priority #4 – Community

Plan

Feb 28, 2019

The 2016-2020 Strategic Plan lists five key Priorities and Community is one of the five.

There are 4 Goals in this section of the Plan, each dealing with a different aspect of how to ensure the long-term survival and relevance of CPS-ECP to our Members and the boating community.

The role of the District Commander has been clarified and steps are being taken to ensure that Squadrons within the District can find help and assistance to remain fully operational.

Closer relationships between Squadron and District officers inevitably results in a more standardized approach and sharing of experience and advice.

Some Squadrons find staffing issues challenging but with the help and guidance of the District, ways to reduce workload, job sharing, merging Squadrons etc., have been found to produce good results.

Squadrons are encouraged to recognize that they need not operate in isolation and will greatly benefit from working closer with neighbouring Squadrons, District and National initiatives. We all share the same Vision, Mission and Values and by working together we shall achieve our Goals.

Members stay with their Home Squadron because it is vibrant, active and has a Social aspect that is working to their benefit. Squadrons that hold regular events have more fun. The types of events that are relevant and of interest vary, but they are a key factor in retaining active members.

If you are interested in learning more about “best practices” or you have suggestions, please contact the National Executive Officer.

The Strategic Plan is a living document and your comments or suggestions to make improvements would be welcomed by the Planning Committee.

Dodging holiday havoc in the tropics

Getting out of town was top-of-mind as it was only November and I was already saturated with Christmas traditions – the music, the glitter, the cookies, the sales. A week in relatively remote Belize was the siren song so we booked a 45-foot catamaran with The Moorings and packed our bags.
