What Plan? Your Plan…..Strategic Priority #2 – Membership

Membership Plan

Jan 10, 2019

The 2016-2020 Strategic Plan lists five key Priorities and Membership is the second of the five. There are 5 Goals outlined in this section of the Plan, and all have been addressed by the members assigned to each of them. Progress has been good since the Plan’s start-up, and shows the commitment of the Administrative Department, especially the Membership Committee, to their Goals. Briefly, some of the accomplishments to date are:

..Standardized rates for new members to make it easier on Squadron Membership Officers (SMO). The ‘Come On Board’ brochure is up to date and emphasizes the value of Membership. All departments need to emphasize Membership….Educational, Marketing etc.

..A new volunteer to focus on Membership renewal at the National level is on board addressing lapsed Members and working with District Membership Officers (DMO) who are now regularly kept informed.

..SMO’s and DMO’s have been identified in all Squadrons and Districts. This is critical for continued contact of current Membership information.

..All Benefits Suppliers information is now up to date. Three new suppliers (Canada Rope, Dock Links and Sunsail) have been added, two of which have become sponsors also (Dock Links and Sunsail). Member Benefit presentations are up to date and available.

..Information is sent to the DMO’s on a monthly basis. Two Membership Webinars are held including all Membership Officers and interested parties. The DMO’s meet face to face at the Annual General Meeting.

..Membership feels like a TEAM that is informed and is contributing.

All in all, this Strategic Priority is being very well addressed, and everyone involved is to be congratulated. This is one of the Priorities that reaches across all levels of the organization and those working on it are demonstrating some of the very things outlined in other Priorities – identifying gaps in (Membership) Officer roles, providing Officers with tools and resources to make their jobs easier to do and providing them with info on how to do their jobs and when, making (Membership) Officers feel valued, strengthening relationships between Squadrons, Districts and National, communicating effectively….etc.

It is the hope that Squadrons and Districts are looking closely at this Priority to see how they too can implement the Goals as stated.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome, please contact the Planning Committee.

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
