Readers give us a bit of feedback on the 60th anniversary of the Shark 24
Hi John,
Nice note about the Citation and the Shark.
But, I think you were remiss by not mentioning that George Hinterhoeller (who designed the Shark) built many of them long before the C+C gang got involved.
Hope all is well.

PS – now living in Gananoque and proud owner of a Hinterhoeller built Limestone 24. Feel free to come down for a cruise!

John,
I’m the Vice President of the Canadian Shark Class Association.
I’m the proud owner of Shark 307 Blue Moon , build by Hinterhoeller in 1966 which I race competitively every season. I encourage you to check out our website:
The Canadian Class website is Shark24.ca, and the International Class website is Shark24.org.
At Hinterhoeller Yachts, George Hinterhoeller made over 900 sharks. George then partnered with C&C Yachts, and continued making another 300 Sharks (as well as many other boats) under the C&C name.Today Sharks are still produced in Germany
There are today about 1500 sharks racing between Canada/ USA/ Europe

Hello John
I’m not sure why I’m going to torture you by reporting this, but Shark #1, yes, the first Shark, was here in Midland about 15 or so years ago. She was kept at Wye Heritage Marina and we used to see it sailing here on Georgian Bay regularly for a couple of years back then.
Where is she now? Sorry, I’ve got no idea, but can say she seemed to be in good condition.
Cheers –
Gordon Laco, Midland ON
