Austin Edwards told students and parents at the Saanich School’s “Parents as Informed Partners” night how he completed his 4-year Marine Service Technician Ticket before his 21st birthday. By starting his trades training at Quadrant while he was in Grade 11 at Parkland Secondary, he got credit towards high school and Marine Service Technician (MTS) technical training at the same time. Quadrant is just one of the training partners with Saanich Schools where Dual Credit students like Austin can fast track their career goals.

Quadrants new Granville Island classroom hosts its first fire extinguisher training certification

Have you ever put out a live fire? Do you know when you should try a fire extinguisher and when you just need to get out? What should you be looking out for when you’re working in marinas and boatyards?

Level One MST Training starts off with fire extinguisher training certification that includes putting out a live fire.

Quadrant Marine Institute put out a big thank you to Skookum Yacht Services and Pilot Marine Yacht Services for making the much needed renovations for the new office and classroom on Granville Island at 1806 Maritime Mews.

Spotted! Canadian Boating in Antigua & Barbuda

I wore my Canadian Boating cap everywhere I went in Antigua, for the sun, not for the shout-outs. But I sure received a lot of them.

Antigua Sailing Week is an international regatta that draws sailors of every level and spectators from all over the world. Yet I couldn’t walk across a room without being hailed by a Canadian who was as excited to see my cap as they were to see the racing. I met many who were on their 3rd, 4th and 5th visit.
