Hello John. I trust all is well.

Canadian Yachting OnBoard (Sept 13) wrote about a new product called “DeFoul”. It is a product to remove bottom paint. I am interested in the product so I’ve done some basic research. It is interesting to note the folks who make the stuff have not disclosed the ingredients that make up this product. I’ve done a google search and many people complain about the same issue.

In my mind, if the manufacturer will not disclose what makes up the stuff, then it must not be government approved. Is Canadian Yachting advertising a potentially toxic product that is not government approved?

I am currently working on behalf on Frank Rothwell, a sailer from the UK who believes he is the first person to circumnavigate the America’s in a Figure Of Eight (please see attached image for a more detailed route description) . We are working towards getting Frank a Guinness World Record certificate and are hoping you might be able to help us.

Do you allow readers to write questions into your magazine? Before we can make the record claim we have to complete research into it, and I am hoping your readers might know if anybody else has completed Frank’s route before, if you could publish the question or a letter alongside the image of the journey and a place the could contact me ( franksfigureof8@outlook.com ) with information it would be a great help to us. Please let me know if your magazine would include something like this.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
