The folks at the NSSA had a successful race week as this note from Rochelle clearly shows:

“It was a terrific race week in Shelburne. We had guests!!!! BLACKBIRD, VOYAGER,MALABAR II, and COLUMBIA from the USA and WOLFHOUND from New Zealand. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, had a week to remember. We did the International Race and MALABAR II(USA) beat COMET II(CAN) by 7 seconds.

Our guests are envious of our race week and the enjoyment we get from it. I am pretty sure they will be back. COLUMBIA gave an open house to visitors-she was packed!!! The NSSA took guests out one evening for a harbour sail that was a highlight for all involved.

Our local MP, Bernadette Jordan, presented the Willa Creighton Memorial Trophy to the Lady Skipper and I am proud to say it was ME-Rochelle Veinot-Whynott on PEGASUS. Our third year for the race and it is becoming one of the highlights. Another takeaway for the USA, as they have no designated women’s race but I bet they will have soon. Their women loved the race and even though they lost to me, it was nothing but a good experience all around.

The shores we packed with people taking photos and many drones were hovering for aerial shots. It was a phenomenal CANADA 150 for our association and we will remember it always.”

Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:
