At last, Lunenburg Bound – a bookstore with a good marine section!

Lunenberg Bound

June 20, 2017

Since anyone who opens an independent bookstore is at least as brave as a small boat shop owner, I should mention Lunenburg Bound on Montague Street in Lunenburg.

One of the shop’s owners is Michael Higgins, who also happens to be an accomplished boatbuilder. Michael built his own boat, a Paul Gartside designed gaff cutter and has made a couple of trips with her to the West Indies. With this sort of backing the store has an excellent selection of new and used nautical titles, of the sort you will not find at your local Chapters. There is nautical history, boat building, and cruising stories, including some hard to find classics. And yes, they have plenty of books about other stuff as well, from contemporary fiction, to art, travel, history and politics. All set out a very relaxed browse and learn atmosphere. -GC

Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
