CPS-ECP Squadrons and volunteers have been working hard to promote CPS-ECP and boating safety this spring. Here are a few of the headlines from across the country.

Education can be life-saver out on the water

Kelowna Power and Sail Squadron promoted safe boating

A New Grand River Power and Sail Squadron
Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo form Grand River Power and Sail Squadron and promote safe boating. Details here

Bay of Quinte Power and Sail Squadron kicked off Safe Boating Week
Volunteers provided Recreational Vessel Courtesy Checks, took part in a “Ready, Set, Wear It!”and collected expired flares on May 20th. Details here

Peterborough Power and Sail celebrated Safe Boating Week with a blessing
A special service and blessing for all boaters and their crew was performed by Reverend Munroe Scott of St. John’s Anglican Church in Lakefield, Ontario. Those that attended wore life jackets and brought items from their boats to be blessed. Nautical hymns were performed by members of the St. John’s Church band. Mayor of Selwyn, Mary Smith took part in the festivities by assisting Munroe Scott in cutting a boating themed cake provided by members of the Peterborough Power and Sail Squadron. Photo here

Oakville Power and Sail Squadron collected expired flares and promoted safe boating
A Safety awareness and flare disposal event took place on Saturday, May 13 at the Dockside Chandlery. Details here

St. Lawrence District reminded boaters to be careful

Vancouver Power and Sail Squadron participated in “Ready, Set, Wear It!”
Vancouver Power and Sail Squadron teamed up with the CSBC and safe boating organizations to attempt the world record for simultaneous PFD wear.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
