Gimli Manitoba to host Canada Games in August

Sail Nova Scotia will be sending a talented and experienced team to the upcoming Canada Games which will take place in early August in Gimli, Manitoba.

Leading the team will be Canada Games veteran Siobhan MacDonald from Mabou in the 2.4mR Class. At the 2013 Games Siobhan posted a fourth place finish and is hoping to be in the medals this year.
Spencer Dalzell will be the Nova Scotia team’s class rep, while Youth Worlds sailor Lauren Sullivan will compete in the Radial Class.

NS Sailing Team

In the double-handed class, teams consisting of Justin Timmins & Cameron Shaw and Sophie Carter & Emily Roy will compete in the 29er Class.

NS Provincial coach Lisa Ross will coach the team and the team’s Manager is Max Flinn. The boats will be hauled to and from Winnipeg by team member Chris Shaw.

Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:
