Victoria Classic Boat Festival hosted by Canoe Cove Marina and Boatyard

Merrie Ellen

Sept 21, 2016

The Annual Victoria Classic Boat Festival, presented by Canoe Cove Marina and Boatyard, brings together the best examples of both yachts and work boats from both sides of the border in the Pacific Northwest.

One Yacht that caughtt my interest this year was the Merrie Ellen. Captain John Albert and his wife are owners of the Vancouver built, “Merrie
Ellen” a 107 ft gaff rigged schooner, that was launched in 1922. They purchased the boat in 2007 and began the restoration.

The boat was built by Arthur Moscrop and is a sister ship to “The RCMP St Roch” at the Vancouver Maritime Museum.

The Merrie Ellen is now available for charter.

Dockside Dining: Frind Winery

I’m a boater – I always take friends and visitors to Frind when we’re on the boat.

Frind Winery is the perfect place for boaters to go for lunch or dinner in the Kelowna area.  You can tie up on the dock or beach your pontoon on the spacious beach.

Frind has an Italian style brick pizza oven for gourmet pizzas and a great selection of other menu items.  You can eat on the patio, at a picnic table, on the beach, or on the lawn. You can also get your order to go and enjoy your meal out on the lake.
