Sail Canada Names Volvo Cars Volunteer of the Month for July 2016

Margaret Wilton

Aug 16, 2016

Each member of the Organizing Committee for Sail East 2016 contributed to the success of this event which ran July 21-24 out of the Charlottetown Yacht Club in PEI. The commitment to Junior Sailing that this group offers shone through in their dedicated efforts to deliver all aspects of the annual Sail Canada Championship. Chair Margaret Wilton was impressed, highlighting “the desire and attention to detail that the (members of the) committee showed”. CYC staff and members rallied around the committee and went above and beyond what was expected of them. It was an amazing regatta – as noted by the Event Coach, Race Officials, Parents and Participants.

The Organizing Committee (OC) for Sail East 2016 was comprised of the Commodore, Stephen Murray, Kerry Marsh, Past Commodore, Alison MacDougall (Registration and Safety), Cathryn Dagenais, Marc Dagenais (Scorer), Eric Dagenais (Race Team Coach), Michael Rankin (Club Race Manager), Nathan Fredrickson (Junior Race Officer), Margaret Wilton (Event Coordinator).

The OC “…couldn’t be happier about results and how this regatta has re-vitalized (our club)”. They are very thankful to Sail Canada and the event partners for the support to host Sail East. The hard work left a legacy of noted sailing championship event experts now looking forward to hosting future regattas!
